FAQ about The SPARK Initiative.

What is The SPARK Initiative?

The SPARK Initiative is a challenge to the people of Colville to spend one hour in the month of March doing something positive for someone else in their community or volunteering for a local non-profit organization.

Where can I volunteer?

You can spend your hour doing anything you like, as long as it is something positive for another person or organization.

Examples:

  • Clean up YOUR neighborhood street.
  • Rake leaves for an elderly friend or neighbor.
  • Hold a food drive at your school or workplace.
  • Volunteer for a great local non-profit organization!

The Colville Public Library will have a display for the entire month of March highlighting different non-profits in the area and how people can get a hold of them to put in their volunteer time.

How do I let you know about my volunteer time?

You can email your hours to thespark2010@gmail.com, drop them off at the library, the Chamber of Commerce or Café 103 on N Main St.  Drop boxes will be up and available by March 1st.  Pictures and descriptions of your time spend volunteering are welcome!

I am a non-profit, and I would like to be part of the display at the library.  What do I do?

In the month of March will you have jobs available for people to come in and work for one hour?

If yes, bring in some fliers or leaflets about your organization, and give a contact phone # so people who want to put in their hour with your organization can get in touch with you!

If not, that is still ok.  Bring is in some information for us to hand out and we will be happy to display your organization as well!

I already volunteer.  Why should I report my hours to you?

Many people in Stevens County volunteer their time.  Hearing about ways that other people volunteer can be a great motivator for others.  It can also alert people of other volunteer opportunities in the area.  Help inspire your community by telling us about the community service you regularly commit to!
